Borno and Ekiti Governors Top the List for Honesty and Good Governance in New 2025 Report

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has been named the best-performing governor for 2025 when it comes to being open and honest with public funds. In a new report released in Abuja, Zulum and nine other governors were honored for their hard work in making sure the government works for the people.

The report, called the GATI Index, was put together by over 75 media editors who spent months checking how every state in Nigeria is run. They found that Borno State has improved significantly, scoring almost 90%. They praised Zulum for building schools and hospitals while making sure every naira is accounted for.

Ekiti State also had a big reason to celebrate, coming in as one of the top ten states. The experts said Ekiti is one of the best places in Nigeria for “fiscal transparency,” which means they don’t hide their spending from the public.

This report is like a “report card” for governors. It shows that even with the challenges in the country, some leaders are finding ways to be responsible and fair. The organizers hope this will encourage other governors to work harder so they can also make the top list next year.
