APC National Chairman, Ganduje
The Executive Committee members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ganduje Ward of Dawakin Tofa local government area in Kano state have labeled as impostors the individuals who announced the “suspension” of APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Sunday.
According to the party, after an unsuccessful attempt to suspend Ganduje, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) government in Kano state organized a group of non-APC members who made the false announcement.
A statement issued on Sunday and signed by Ahmed Muhammed Ganduje and Usaini Jibrin, the chairman and secretary of Ganduje Ward, respectively, confirmed that they are the legitimate executive members. The statement also noted that no new election has been held by the state or national APC body to bring in a new leadership.
“We, as the executive members of Ganduje Ward of the APC, are not aware of any new election of party leadership. We remain the current ward executive,” the statement read.
The statement also pointed out that the group failed to use genuine or certified letterhead and included a list of nonexistent party executives.
“To make matters worse, the leader of the group that announced the supposed suspension is an NNPP member who lost the councilorship election in Ganduje Ward,” the statement added.
The executive members called on the national party leadership and security agencies to arrest and prosecute the group for impersonation. They also urged party members to dismiss the propaganda aiming to disrupt the party’s peace.
