Air Peace Fires Back at NCAA After London Flight Returns to Base Due to Cracked Windshield
Air Peace has come out to defend itself after the Nigerian aviation regulator (NCAA) called them for an urgent meeting. The drama started on Friday, March 13, when an Air Peace flight heading to London from Abuja had to turn around because of a crack in the plane’s window.
The NCAA said they received complaints that passengers were left stranded in Lagos without help after the flight was changed. Because of this, they ordered the airline to appear at their headquarters this Monday to explain what happened.
However, Air Peace says the “stranded” story is not true. In a statement on Saturday, the airline explained that the plane had to turn back for safety reasons after a bird likely hit the windshield. They said they took care of everyone by offering them different ways to get to London. Most passengers were flown to Lagos for free to catch another flight, while others stayed in hotels provided by the airline so they could fly the next day.
“Safety is our first goal,” Air Peace said. They told the public that they are working closely with the NCAA and that they always follow global rules to make sure passengers are safe and comfortable.
