ADC Blasts Tinubu for Skipping Fallen Heroes’ Honor; Says Absence is a ‘Cold Shoulder’ to Nigeria’s Brave Soldiers!
As the sound of the bugle rang out across the National Cenotaph to honor Nigeria’s fallen heroes, one prominent face was missing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Now, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is turning up the heat, calling out the President for what they describe as a major “leadership snub.”
Every January 15, the nation stops to remember the soldiers who paid the ultimate price for Nigeria’s peace. However, the ADC is not happy that the President delegated his wreath-laying duties to a representative instead of appearing in person. According to the party, at a time when the military is fighting daily battles against insurgents and kidnappers, the “Commander-in-Chief” should be front and center.
“It is not enough to send a representative; some duties are sacred,” an ADC spokesperson said. The party argued that the President’s physical presence at the cenotaph is a symbol of respect and a morale booster for the men and women still in the trenches. By not showing up, the ADC claims the government is sending a message that these honors are just “routine business.”
While the Presidency often cites pressing national matters or international engagements for such absences, the ADC insists that the Armed Forces Remembrance Day should be a priority on any President’s calendar.
The party is now demanding that the government does more than just lay wreaths. They are calling for an immediate review of the pensions and welfare packages for the families left behind by these heroes, saying, “If you can’t show up for them, at least pay them what they are worth.”
