FBI Taps Public to Hunt Suspect in Charlie Kirk Assassination

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released photos of a “person of interest” and is offering a $100,000 reward for information in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The announcement comes as the hunt for the shooter continues, following the high-profile incident at Utah Valley University.

Kirk, 31, was shot and killed on Wednesday while speaking at an outdoor event on the university campus. According to authorities, a single gunshot was fired from a distant rooftop, striking Kirk and causing chaos as attendees scattered. The Utah Department of Public Safety and the FBI have since recovered a high-powered, bolt-action rifle believed to be the weapon used in the attack, found hidden in a wooded area near the campus.

Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance. The released images depict an individual wearing a long-sleeve black shirt, a hat, sunglasses, and jeans. Officials believe the suspect is of college age and was able to blend in with the large crowd of approximately 3,000 people attending the event.

The killing, which Utah Governor Spencer Cox has called a “political assassination,” has drawn widespread condemnation across the political spectrum. In the wake of the tragedy, President Donald Trump announced that he would posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, photos, or video footage related to the incident to contact the FBI.
