Governor Sanwo-Olu, Wife Cast Votes as Lagosians Elect Local Government Leaders

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, today exercised their civic duty by casting their votes in the ongoing Local Government Elections across the state. The First Family participated in the democratic process at their polling unit, joining thousands of Lagosians in electing chairmen and councillors for the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.

The Governor arrived at his polling unit, accompanied by the First Lady, around 10:30 AM. They were observed undergoing the accreditation process, which reportedly featured the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine, before proceeding to cast their ballots. The process at their unit was described as orderly and peaceful, with electoral officials on ground ensuring smooth conduct.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged all eligible voters to come out en masse and participate in the crucial exercise. “This election is very important because it is about governance at the grassroots, the closest to the people,” the Governor stated. “Your vote today determines who will manage affairs in your immediate communities, addressing issues that directly affect your daily lives. I appeal to all registered voters to cast their ballots peacefully and responsibly.”

He expressed satisfaction with the early reports from across the state, noting that the conduct of the election had been largely peaceful. Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for their preparations and the security agencies for ensuring a safe environment for voters and electoral officials.
