Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatola Ayodele described the accreditation as “a testament to the tireless collective efforts of our academic and administrative staff” and said it positions EKSU to better serve Nigeria’s youth in cutting-edge disciplines.

ACU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, thanked the Commission for its “transparent, rigorous process,” noting that ACU’s success reflects sustained investment in both academic standards and infrastructure.

FUOYE Adds 4 New Undergraduate Degrees

Bringing the three-institution total to 31, the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) this week also received NUC approval for four new bachelor’s programmes. In a letter dated 15 May 2025, FUOYE was authorized to run the following full-time degrees:

  1. B.Eng. Information & Communication Engineering

  2. B.Sc. Software Engineering

  3. B.Sc. Cyber Security

  4. B.Ed. Primary Education

The FUOYE Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, described the greenlight as “a key step” towards broadening the university’s STEM and teacher-education offerings in response to Nigeria’s digital-skills and literacy needs.

What This Means for Students and Employers

  • Students at all three institutions can now pursue these accredited qualifications with confidence, knowing they meet the NUC’s national minimum academic standards.

  • Employers benefit from a growing pool of graduates whose programmes have been benchmarked for quality and relevance.

  • The Ekiti region solidifies its standing as an emerging hub for higher-education excellence in southwestern Nigeria.

Moving forward, each institution will begin publishing admission guidelines for these newly accredited courses ahead of the 2025/2026 academic session.
