Ibas Launches Leadership Training to Foster Good Governance in Rivers State
Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has initiated a four-day Transformational Leadership Training Workshop aimed at strengthening public service delivery and institutional capacity in the state. The workshop, organized in collaboration with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), targets Permanent Secretaries, Local Government Administrators, and Directors from various ministries.
Speaking at the event in Port Harcourt on Monday, May 19, 2025, Ibas emphasized his administration’s commitment to building strong institutions, promoting efficiency, and fostering a results-driven public service. He stated, “We are laying the foundation for a culture of good governance—one that will serve not just the present generation but also those to come.”
Ibas highlighted the importance of regular and relevant training to break the cycle of stagnation in governance and prepare public servants to adapt, grow, and transform service delivery. He noted that the workshop is designed to inspire a cultural shift within the public service, fostering excellence, accountability, and innovation.
The Director-General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, commended the Rivers State Government for its commitment to sustainable economic growth, infrastructural renewal, and social development. He described the workshop’s theme as timely, given the evolving demands of governance, and emphasized the need for leadership excellence at all levels.
This initiative aligns with Ibas’s broader efforts to reposition Rivers State’s public service to a global standard, ensuring that citizens benefit from improved governance and service delivery.
