Peter Obi Urges President Tinubu to Resign, Citing Lack of Competence

Peter Obi, a presidential hopeful from the Nigerian Democratic Congress, has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign. Obi made this statement during a town hall meeting in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, on Thursday.

Obi accused Tinubu of not having the necessary skills and energy to lead Nigeria. He urged Tinubu to return home and rest, questioning what the president has accomplished during his time in office. Obi pointed out that Tinubu has spent a significant amount of time outside the country, suggesting he should spend more time engaging with the Nigerian people.

Obi emphasized that his campaign is focused on competence rather than ethnicity. He urged the people of Ebonyi not to vote for him simply because he is from the South East or an Igbo person, but because he is qualified for the presidency. He also unveiled a seven-point plan aimed at addressing urgent issues in the country.

Among his proposals, Obi highlighted the need for national unity, stating that Nigeria must overcome ethnic divisions. He promised to ensure fairness in public job appointments and declared a commitment to improving security in the country.

Obi also vowed to take strong action against corruption, stating that public funds should be used for the welfare of citizens. He indicated that he would prioritize education, healthcare, and agriculture, aiming to boost food production and ensure that every political ward has access to healthcare services.

Senator Samuel Egwu, a leader of the NDC in Ebonyi State, expressed confidence that the state would fully support Obi’s presidential bid. The event was attended by various party candidates and supporters.
