Ogun State Offers ₦50,000 Support to 3,050 Youth Corps Members
The Ogun State government has announced a welfare payment of ₦50,000 for each of the 3,050 members of the 2026 Batch C, Stream I of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). These corps members are currently in their orientation program at the NYSC camp in Sagamu.
This initiative, approved by Governor Dapo Abiodun, aims to help young Nigerians cope with current economic challenges. A statement from the State Commissioner for Sports Development, Wasiu Isiaka, confirmed that the payments started on Monday.
The funds are intended to assist corps members with personal and essential needs during their orientation period. The statement emphasized the government’s recognition of the contributions of corps members to national development and its commitment to their welfare.
In addition to the financial support, the Ogun State government is donating 500 mattresses to the NYSC camp in Sagamu. This is part of efforts to improve living conditions for corps members, especially as the number of participants has increased.
The mattresses will help ensure that corps members have comfortable accommodation during their training. The government believes that supporting the NYSC program is crucial for creating a positive environment for these young individuals as they begin their service year.
Officials also encouraged corps members to embrace values such as discipline and selfless service, and to make the most of the opportunities available through the NYSC scheme.
