Ogun Chief Seeks Justice in Ongoing Land Dispute
The Baale of Moro Community in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Chief Rafiu Amusa, has reached out to the state Attorney-General regarding a land dispute. He is asking for help to stop the Ogun State Task Force on Illegalities and Anti-Land Grabbing from supporting individuals involved in the dispute.
In a petition filed by his lawyer, D. O. Folalu, Amusa claims that the Task Force is acting unfairly by backing Sidikatu Ojediran and Kabiru Numue, who are defendants in a court case. This case, which is still pending, involves a claim for land ownership and other related issues.
According to the petition, the customary owners of the land in question, located in Moro Village near Ilaro, have taken legal action to establish their rights. The defendants have not responded to the court documents but have instead sought help from the Task Force.
Amusa’s petition highlights that the claimants’ lawyer had previously informed the Task Force about the ongoing lawsuit and requested that they not interfere. Despite this, the Task Force allegedly took action on October 3, 2026, leading a group to the disputed land and ordering the claimants’ tenants to leave.
The petition criticizes the Task Force for violating legal principles and abusing their power. It warns that if the situation continues, it could lead to serious conflicts within the community, threatening peace and order.
