Kwara Governor Launches New Housing Estate for Civil Servants and Traders

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq inaugurated the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq Morire Housing Estate on Tuesday in Ijagbo town, located in the Oyun Local Government Area. This housing estate is designed for civil servants, traders, and other Nigerians who can access it through the National Housing Fund.

The estate includes 210 two-bedroom terrace apartments, 200 three-bedroom units, and 54 four-bedroom duplexes. During the ceremony, the governor emphasized that housing is a basic human need and essential for dignity, security, and family stability. He acknowledged the significant housing deficit in Nigeria, which he attributed to various factors such as high building material costs and complicated land systems.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to ISHI Homes Limited for partnering on this project and selecting Kwara State for development. He highlighted that his administration prioritizes housing development and is actively working with partners, including the Federal Ministry of Housing, to increase the number of homes available in the state.

He mentioned that the state recently acquired a housing estate with over 130 flats in Ogbondoroko, which will be included in the administration’s social support scheme. The governor also noted improvements in land administration, reducing the time to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy from 180 days to 35 days, making the process more efficient.

Dr. Olayinka Ilufoye, CEO of ISHI Homes, stated that the project aims to make home ownership more accessible for residents of the Kwara South Senatorial District. He expressed hope that the estate would symbolize prosperity and progress in the region.

Alhaji Sulyman Abdulkareem, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service, praised the state government for its efforts in facilitating land access and issuing property titles promptly. He noted that these actions help create a supportive environment for housing development in Kwara State.
