Rivers Labour Party Supports Wike’s Rainbow Coalition for Inclusive Politics
The Rivers State chapter of the Labour Party has expressed its support for the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The party views this coalition as an inclusive platform that unites leaders from various political parties.
This endorsement comes as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors Forum opposes the coalition, claiming it could weaken their candidates in the upcoming 2027 elections.
During a press conference in Port Harcourt, Fredrick Nwoje, the Rivers State Chairman of the Labour Party, praised the coalition as a model for inclusive governance. He highlighted that Wike’s recent efforts to bring together leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), APC, Labour Party, and others show his political strength and ability to unite different interests.
Nwoje stated, “What Chief Wike has demonstrated with his rainbow coalition is that governance is bigger than party. While others preach unity, he practices it.” He noted that the coalition allows capable individuals from Rivers State to participate in governance, regardless of their party affiliation.
He also criticized the APC Governors Forum’s opposition to Wike, calling it a sign of political fear and envy. Nwoje challenged them to confront Wike directly rather than criticize him behind closed doors.
Regarding the Labour Party’s role in the coalition, Nwoje reassured members that the party is a key player and will not be overlooked. He urged the youth of Rivers State to support the Rainbow Coalition for the sake of peace and development.
