Three Arrested in Oyo for Allegedly Killing Six Family Members

The Oyo State Police have arrested three people suspected of murdering a family of six in Oloba Village. The victims included a father, mother, and their four children. The arrests were made following information received by the police on October 2, 2026, about the attack that took place on September 22.

According to police reports, the suspects, identified as Akinbami Ahmed, Akinbami Ojo, and Padonu Edward, allegedly broke into the home of Ifeanyichukwu and his family while armed with a homemade gun, two cutlasses, and a club. During the robbery, they reportedly stole around ₦200,000, a Boxer motorcycle, a chainsaw machine, and a spraying machine.

Police say that during the attack, Ahmed shot the father, while Ojo and Edward attacked the mother, causing her death. Tragically, two of the children were tied up and thrown into a nearby river, and the other family members were also killed and their bodies discarded in the water.

Detectives have visited the scene, gathering evidence and recovering the stolen motorcycle, the gun, cutlasses, and the club used in the crime. The suspects confessed to their involvement during questioning.

The police have recovered the body of the mother and are still searching for the remains of the other victims. The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and legal action. The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has called for a thorough investigation and promised that anyone found guilty will face justice.
