Benue APC Stakeholders Make Major U-Turn, Back Tinubu and Governor Alia for 2027

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State have thrown their weight behind the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia, while issuing a stern warning against internal division.

The declaration was made public during a media briefing in Abuja by the Concerned Benue APC Stakeholders and Strategic Alliance, led by its convener, Dr. Dominic Alancha. Addressing journalists, the leadership stressed that the overarching interest of the progressive platform supersedes personal ambitions, political differences, or individual grievances.

In a notable shift, Alancha candidly admitted that the group had previously opposed Governor Alia’s administration over localized disagreements. However, he noted that a reassessment of the broader political landscape prompted a collective decision to support the governor’s second-term pursuit and President Tinubu’s national mandate.

“The APC is bigger than any individual, leader, aspirant, or political group,” Alancha stated. “Personal disagreements should not be allowed to take precedence over the collective interest of the party.”

The stakeholders cautioned party members against engaging in covert fractionalization or actions that could weaken the party’s electoral footing in the state. They urged anyone with legitimate grievances against the state leadership or the governor to utilize the party’s recognized internal organs and dispute-resolution mechanisms rather than resorting to disruptive behavior.

Reaffirming their commitment to grassroots mobilization, the group pledged to take their campaign to all wards, local government areas, and communities across Benue State to secure a resounding victory for both President Tinubu and Governor Alia in 2027.
