Sophia Momodu’s Lawyer Demands ₦1bn from Davido for ‘Courtroom Assault’ and Social Media Harassment

Sophia Momodu’s Lawyer Demands ₦1bn from Davido for ‘Courtroom Assault’ and Social Media Harassment

The “State of Harmony” between Afrobeats superstar Davido and his former partner Sophia Momodu has officially collapsed into a high-stakes legal war. On Monday night, March 2, Momodu’s legal team, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, served the singer with a massive ₦1 billion demand for allegedly harassing and endangering one of their senior partners.

The firm is seeking the eye-watering sum as compensation for what they describe as a “malicious campaign of intimidation” directed at Mrs. Ebelechukwu Enedah. The dispute centers on a February 12 court hearing where Davido reportedly “lost his cool” during a cross-examination. The lawyers claim that the singer became so aggressive that he had to be physically restrained and subsequently ignored a judge’s order to apologize for his behavior in the courtroom.

“To publicly brand a lawyer of her standing as ‘the worst lawyer ever’ is not just a grievance; it is a calculated attempt at reputational destruction,” the firm stated in their pre-action notice. They allege that after the court clash, Davido’s public outbursts on social media exposed Mrs. Enedah to a “torrent of threats” and abusive calls from the singer’s massive fanbase, compromising her personal safety.

While Davido recently claimed he was withdrawing from the custody battle to find peace, this ₦1 billion demand suggests the legal drama is far from over. The singer had previously accused the legal team of “provoking” him by bringing up the tragic death of his son, Ifeanyi, during the proceedings. However, Punuka Attorneys maintain that no amount of personal grief justifies the harassment of a legal officer. As of late Monday, Davido’s camp has yet to issue a formal response to the billion-naira ultimatum.
