NNPP Leader Breaks Silence on Returning to APC; Tells Ruling Party: ‘Change Your Ways or Count Me Out!’

The man in the famous “Red Cap,” Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has finally spoken on the one question every Nigerian politician has been asking: Is he going back to the APC?

In a move that has sent shockwaves through the political world, the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) didn’t say an outright “no,” but he gave a condition that might be very hard for the ruling party to swallow. Kwankwaso made it clear that he isn’t interested in joining the APC just for the sake of it. Instead, he said the party must be ready for a total “re-set.”

“I am a man of ideology,” Kwankwaso reportedly told his supporters. He insisted that for any marriage between him and the APC to work, the party must go back to its original promises and fix its internal “wahala.”

While some see this as a sign that he is opening the door for a massive political merger, others believe he is simply making it clear that he is the “Senior Partner” in any negotiation. For now, Kwankwaso says he is perfectly happy building the NNPP into a powerhouse that can sweep the next elections.

As the 2027 race starts to take shape, this “half-open door” from the Kwakwasiyya leader means the APC leadership will have a lot of thinking to do if they truly want the “Lion of Kano” back in their pride.
