IPMAN Dumps Foreign Fuel Importers; Refusal to Buy ‘Overseas Petrol’ Sparks Huge Showdown as Refinery Denies Hitting a Snag!
The battle for who controls Nigeria’s fuel tanks has taken a massive turn. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has officially “turned its back” on imported petrol, declaring that they will now buy every drop of fuel from the Dangote Refinery instead.
This “Buy Nigeria” move is a huge blow to international fuel traders who have made billions importing petrol into the country for decades. IPMAN says it makes no sense to keep spending dollars on foreign fuel when there is a massive refinery right here in our backyard.
However, this announcement is happening in the middle of a “he said, she said” drama. Some rumors had started spreading that the Dangote Refinery was having trouble and couldn’t supply enough fuel to go around. But the Dangote Group didn’t stay quiet for long. They fired back, calling the rumors “total lies.”
“Our tanks are full and our machines are running 24/7,” a spokesperson for the refinery stated. They made it clear that if people are seeing queues at filling stations, it’s not because the refinery has stopped working, it’s probably because the trucks are stuck in traffic or there are other “bottlenecks” on the road.
With IPMAN now fully backing Dangote, the pressure is on the local refinery to prove it can truly power the whole of Nigeria without any help from outside. If they succeed, the days of the “Importation Cabal” might finally be over.
