Federal Government Unveils ‘Inspire Live(s)’ Real-Time Online Classes to Democratize Quality Education and Tackle Teacher Shortages

The Federal Ministry of Education today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, launched the nationwide rollout of the Inspire Live(s)! Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a groundbreaking digital learning programme designed to fundamentally expand equitable access to quality education for every Nigerian child.

The initiative, which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is a direct response to persistent challenges in the education sector, including acute shortages of qualified teachers and recurrent disruptions to the academic calendar caused by strikes and recent security-related school closures.

The Minister of Education, Chief (Dr.) Maruf Tunji Alausa, confirmed that full implementation of the programme is underway. He noted that by deploying technology to deliver live, interactive lessons directly to learners, Inspire Live(s) democratizes access to quality education and ensures that “no child is left behind regardless of location or circumstance.”

Live Curriculum from Certified Teachers

The Inspire platform currently streams daily online classes focused on Junior and Senior Secondary Schools. Specifically, JSS 1, JSS 2, and SS 2 students are now accessing live lessons from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. All lessons are delivered by certified master teachers using the Cisco Webex technology.

The comprehensive curriculum includes core subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, and Agricultural Science for both junior and senior secondary levels.

In a critical move to ensure wide adoption, the Ministry clarified that the online classes are open to all public and private schools in the country. To facilitate seamless implementation, the Ministry has directed all State Commissioners of Education to nominate a State Focal Officer and ensure that designated schools are equipped with the minimum ICT facilities and internet connectivity required to connect to the digital classroom.

School principals have been mandated to handle the registration process strictly via the Inspire support channels, signalling the government’s commitment to leveraging digital technology to overcome longstanding infrastructural deficits in the education sector.
