Lagos State Governor Calls for Innovation and Youth Empowerment at Zenith Bank Tech Fair 5.0

The Governor of Lagos State yesterday joined leading industry figures at the Zenith Bank Tech Fair 5.0, a major technology and innovation event themed “Future Forward: Tech for Success – Innovate, Adapt, Accelerate.”

The event brought together innovators, young tech talents, researchers, and startup founders from across Nigeria. Among the notable attendees were Jim Ovia, Founder of Zenith Bank, and Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, OON, alongside top executives in the technology and financial sectors.

In his remarks, the governor commended the theme of the fair, stating that it reflects the mindset required to drive progress in a rapidly evolving digital economy. He said the theme encourages Nigerians to stay curious, adapt quickly, and leverage technology as a tool for creating new opportunities.

The governor praised the creativity displayed during the hackathon and startup pitch competition, describing the young participants as “the engine of Nigeria’s innovative future.” He highlighted that beyond the cash prizes, finalists will gain access to a mentorship and incubation programme aimed at refining their ideas, scaling up their solutions, and supporting business growth.

Reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment, he noted that Lagos State will continue to support initiatives that promote technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. According to him, investing in young talent is key to building a stronger and more digitally advanced future.
