Massive Russian Missile and Drone Strikes Injure 11, Including Six Children, and Cause Nationwide Power Outages in Ukraine

Russian forces launched a massive barrage of drone and missile strikes across Ukraine overnight into Thursday, October 30, 2025, wounding at least 11 people and causing significant disruptions to the country’s power grid.

The most severe civilian casualties were reported in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, where strikes targeted residential buildings. Ivan Fedorov, the regional military administration chief, confirmed that the number of wounded in Zaporizhzhia had risen to 11. Tragically, “Among the wounded are six children—three girls and three boys. The children are from 3 to 6 years old,” Fedorov stated on Telegram.

The primary focus of the overnight assault was Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure. Svitlana Grinchuk, Ukraine’s energy minister, accused Russia of once again launching a “massive missile and drone strike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.” As a result of the attack, the state power grid operator, Ukrenergo, was forced to impose emergency power outages across most Ukrainian regions to stabilize the system.

Rescuers and repair crews have immediately begun working to eliminate the consequences of the attack and restore power. The ongoing strikes on the power network are seen as a concerted effort by Russia to disable Ukraine’s capacity to generate and distribute electricity as the country approaches the harsh winter months.

Meanwhile, Russia’s defense ministry claimed its forces had successfully downed 170 Ukrainian drones overnight, including dozens over the Bryansk and Moscow regions.
