NCAN Demands Transparency in Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Roadmap

NCAN Demands Transparency in Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Roadmap

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAN) has called on the Federal Government to ensure full transparency and accountability in the implementation of the new Civil Aviation Act 2023. The Director-General of the authority, Captain Chris Najomo, made the demand at a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, stating that a clear roadmap is essential for the industry’s success.

Najomo described the new Act as a “game-changer” for the Nigerian aviation sector, with the potential to attract significant foreign investment and drive economic growth. However, he warned that without a transparent and collaborative approach, the Act’s goals could be undermined by a lack of coordination and policy inconsistencies.

“We must carry everyone along,” Najomo stated. “Transparency is not just a buzzword; it is a necessity for building trust and ensuring that all stakeholders, from airlines to passengers, are aware of the plans and objectives. A clear roadmap will help us avoid the pitfalls of the past and move forward as a united force.”

The Director-General reiterated his commitment to promoting indigenous participation and professionalism within the aviation industry. He also mentioned that the authority is working on a new Civil Aviation Bill and a renewed aviation policy, all of which will be guided by principles of transparency and stakeholder engagement.
